The blog migration...

Octocaat and Bit

Migrating my blog has been on the cards for the last two years. At first, I was going to migrate my blog from WordPress to GitHub Pages using Hugo. Thinking it would be 'fun' to do this and then blog about it. I started the migration then halted. I actually like the ease of managing (or not having to actually do anything) to manage my blog. I could have also used an Azure Web App, or a number of other tools.

Finally, I decided to not only recreate my blog on a whole new platform, but to also rebrand my blog. Why? My previous blog was still getting views, but it felt ... well... stale.

If I am going to stand up a new blog, I also felt it was the perfect time to also re-brand myself, which led to a whole new blog name. Then I had to think about SEO and the previous posts that are still getting views.

Basically, a simple blog migration has turned into a re-brand, re-platform, and re-inventing of my technical blog. Sounds like a normal day working in tech, huh?

So it begins... I'll be blogging about technical stuff, creating some new content and will build out a newsletter to keep folks up to date.

Btw, if we haven't met yet, I'm April Yoho! I'm a software engineer and I work at GitHub. I've been in tech for...a while...and have worked in operations and moved into development. TLDR; I love me some DevOps. With that, I am very much of a 'Swiss Army' knife when it comes to my technical skillsets. Buckle up and join me for an awesome tech journey, we'll learn some stuff along the way!
